Streamlined Sales Tax

The Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement, also commonly known as the Streamlined Sales Tax Project (SST or SSTP) is an collaboration among 44 states, the District of Columbia, local governments, and the business community. The SST is working with state governments to simplify and unify sales and use tax laws that make the collection of sales tax easier for both the retailer and the member states. is a Certified Service Provider (CSP) with the Streamlined Sales Tax Project. As a CSP, we are able to provide volunteer sellers with the SSTP a certified software solution for calculating, collecting, and remitting sales tax through their web site.

Currently, the following states are members of the SST and have passed legislation supporting the Streamlined Sales Tax Efforts:

Benefits to Sellers

Retailers may choose to register as a volunteer seller with the Streamlined Sales Tax project. The benefits of becoming a volunteer seller under the and using certified software such as TaxTools™ Enterprise are:

  1. Business immunity from audit liability for any sales processed through the software
  2. State-subsidized costs for software in certain cases
  3. A single identification number used to file and pay taxes for member states
  4. The ability to update registration data for all member states at one time and place
  5. Tax returns filed automatically by the Certified Service Provider.
