AccurateTax TaxTools - Basic Service, Miva Module
Purpose of Module
The AccurateTax TaxTools - Basic Service (TTA) provides the only fully independent utility available today for Miva Merchant storeowners to allow their customers to have their address information validated. What that means, is the US-ASVS ensures that the information provided by the end user is a valid US address based on a review of the information against the US Postal Service (USPS) dataset.
This solution operates as a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution. Meaning, there are two components to this solution - 1) the Miva Merchant module and 2) AccurateTax Address Server. Once your account is setup with AccurateTax to use the US-ASVS, and the module is installed, your customers will have their addresses scrubbed and validated against the US Postal Service (USPS) dataset.
Other solutions available today require the storeowner to use USPS address scrubbing exclusively for retrieving USPS shipping rates; however, the US-ASVS utility is completely separate from USPS webtools and only relies on the dataset used by the US Postal Service for accurately determining a customer's address. This means storeowners can now have shipping addresses corrected before the customer ever checkouts out of the store, thereby decreasing Address Correction fees from your shippers and time spent attempting to track down a valid address by your customer service personnel.
How it works
During normal checkout, customers are required to enter their shipping address information. Once the form on the OCST page is submitted, an xml request message is forwarded to the AccurateTax servers with the Shipping information. The address data is then cross referenced with the USPS dataset through a series of algorithms to determine exactly what the correct address, city, state and zip+4 codes are for your customer. This is what we refer to as Address Scrubbing and Validation.
Ideally, the system returns a single set of data that can be used as the official shipping information. However, in some cases due to the address information entered, the algorithm simply cannot determine which address is the ideal, and so multiple results will be returned to your store.
In both cases, the customer is taken to the Address Confirmation page (pagecode: ataddr) and then has the option to select the address we have provided, to continue using use their own, or to return to the OCST page to make a change.
If you are using the US-ASVS as a standalone solution, separate from the TaxTools solution, the system will scrub and validate each address that is entered by your customers during checkout. Each Address Request made to the AccurateTax servers is referred to as a "call". Since this solution is a SaaS offering, there is a monthly subscription that you, as the storeowner, sign up for. Each unique call to our servers counts as a call against your monthly call count. To check your call counts for a given month, you can login to your AT server account.
How to Install
- Installing the Module
- Unzip accuratetax_ttadvanced.zip to your hard drive
- Log into your Miva admin utility
- Expand the navigation tree next to Modules
- Click the link "Add Module"
If using Miva Merchant 5.0, click the Add link next to the Modules link
- Click the "Upload File" graphic
- Click the "Browse" button
- Browse to the location where you stored the files from accuratetax_ttadvanced.zip
- Select accuratetax_ttadvanced.mvc
- Click the "Upload" button
- When the graphic has been uploaded, the small "Upload File" window will disappear, leaving you with the main Miva admin screen visible
- Click the "Add" button on the main Miva admin screen
Please note: installing this module will also create the Address Confirmation page (ataddr) automatically. This page should be used as-is. If changes are made to the page, NetBlazon cannot guarantee that your store will work as desired. - Click the link labeled "System Extension Settings" in the left-hand pane
- Find the module labeled "AccurateTax Address Validation" and click the checkbox next to it
- Click the Update button

How to Configure accuratetax_ttAdvanced.mvc
- Once you have installed the module, you will need to contact AccurateTax to get your server setup completed.
- Have your license key, domain name and order number information available when you contact us.
- The AccurateTax Client Manager will setup your account based on the number of calls you have purchased. Once
that step is completed, you will be provided a checksum value. This checksum needs to be entered into your module's
setup screen exactly as it is provided. To do that follow the directions below:
- Log into your Miva admin utility
- Expand the navigation tree next to Stores
- Expand the link for the store with which you wish to associate this module
- Click the link labeled "System Extension Settings" in the left-hand pane
- Find the tab labeled "AccurateTax Address Validation" and click it
- Enter the checksum value you were given by the AccurateTax Client Manager
- Click the "Update" button

During installation, the module will attempt to create the Address Confirmation page, which is used as part of the Address Scrubbing and Validation process.
